about kate

Kate West is a mother to four growing humans, a songweaver, holistic health counselor for women in the childbearing years, Ayurvedic postpartum doula, ritualist, musician, artist, and group facilitator. Native to Texas—although she tried to get out several times—Kate’s lived in Austin since her oldest son was 5 months old (September 2009).

She studied and certified in holistic health and nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2005 and has been supporting women holistically ever since.

Kate is co-founder of Nest+Bowl, a resource for holistic postpartum care, education and training and mother community. She’s a ceremonialist at heart, offering sanctuary for her community to connect with both the tender, innermost core of themselves and the expansive love that holds us all. Through song, ritual, and community, Kate supports mothers to remember their hearts’ longings and return to the Great Mother.

She’s a homegrown herbalist and regenerative gardener, finding herself most at home when immersed in the natural world with her family and community.

Kate serves women and families in the Austin area through in-home postpartum care, in-person ceremonies and women’s song circles.

Listen,

You who came here to birth in order to bring the mysteries back to life,

all of you who came to life to bring the wonder back,

your true voice makes all the creatures in the world very happy.

So please begin to speak and even sing from that place in your heart

and tear the veil off this moment of becoming.

~RUMI, “Why you came here”

“I call Kate a Mama Shaman because she is so deeply wise when it comes to the spiritual path of motherhood. Her experience in bringing the sacred into the role of motherhood has made all the difference for me during my first year as a new mom. ”

ABOUT MY SLIDING SCALE SYSTEM

Because some people have more financial means than others, I work on a sliding scale system to accommodate a range of economic realities—you choose how much you pay within a given range.

The high-end of the scale reflects the value I believe the offerings hold, and the low-end offers a more accessible entry point. No one is turned away for lack of funds.

If needed, we can discuss payment plans and/or other exchanges. I am open to some trades every year.

By choosing a higher price point, you‘re helping make the offerings more accessible to others for whom the low-end may be cost-prohibitive. Please consider your needs and resources to determine what might be a stretch, but not a strain

Everyone receives a free 20-minute initial consult (by phone or Zoom) to see if working together feels like a fit .

I’d love to hear from you.

Whether you’d like to collaborate, have me as a guest on your podcast, or have a question, fill out the form below, and I’ll be in touch soon. Thanks, love.
